About

Midnight Rose is a medium/heavy role-playing collective of venues and like-minded groups, centered on Maduin in the Dynamis datacenter. We are devoted to long-term character growth, slow-burn storytelling, and immersive experiences across the Star.Currently we are home to two venues; The Sidhe's Shambles adventuring respite in Gridania, and The Midnight Rose Café in Ishgard, both owned and operated by the Midnight Rose trading company. Midnight Rose is ostensibly an entirely legitimate mercantile business, and behind closed doors a haven for well-meaning ne'er-do-wells, pirates of the Code or other moral values, in addition to nonviolent voidsent and the like to make a (mostly) honest life for themselves.

Northeast Subdivision Aetheryte
Balmung Server, Crystal Data CenterWithin the cold climes of Ishgard's Emperyum District, with a cliffside at its back and a flowing stream beneath the small bridge that marks its entrance is nestled a large mansion with a finely manicured yard in the fifth ward Lavender Northeast subdivision. Once housing a rowdy free company of adventurers many summers ago, it now serves as the site of the Shroudrose Teahouse and Speakeasy, a teahouse and upscale bar and lounge serving everything from specialty tea blends, to a wide array of spirits and cocktails, to light meals and snacks both sweet and savory.
Shroudrose Teahouse and Speakeasy is our free company estate, a large mansion in the Lavender Beds. The free company house is a public role-play space where anyone is welcome to come role-play at any time, and can be used as a venue for events with some prior discussion. To stop by when there is a crowd and the place is staffed by player characters, please see our Events section. If you wish to role-play in the teahouse outside of our event hours, you can assume NPC staff take care of your characters, or you can contact us and we will have a character come assist you if possible. Venue Staff

Nikulas - Shopkeep

A former scholar who graduated with honors from The Studium, Nikulas has dedicated his life to the study of Etheirys. Unfortunately his book smarts did not make welcome company when he was tasked with searching out various historic tomes for his former employer. (Needless to say that job did not pan out when he was faced with a rampaging monster.) Thankfully, his current position with The Midnight Rose requires no adventuring, instead he spends his time cataloging the various tomes that are under his care.

Leodaire - Barista

Leodaire grew up on the streets of the Brume, barely scraping by on what he could plead for (or pilfer) from others. He tends to be terse at best and an uptight ass at worse, but give him long enough to break out of his tough exterior and you'll find a loyal and caring soul.

Venue Rules

Roleplay with partial NPC staff

This venue uses NPCs for notable staff characters but will always have at least one PC staff member when "open." You are free to dictate basic NPC interactions without PC staff input and are encouraged to use the descriptions given on this website to help you write for them as needed.We request that this be the only time you dictate another character's actions, and that you keep the NPC interactions at least somewhat accurate to the descriptions given.If PC staff find that you are abusing this house rule or letting it bleed into PC interactions you may be reprimanded, advised to leave the premises, or banned from future events.

Gil and Item Exchange

  • Midnight Rose does not charge in-game Gil for drinks. We do, however, encourage tipping for our waitstaff and employees.

  • As the bookstore and café area are purely RP venues, no items with be exchanged. We are here for the joy of interacting with each other's characters, not to get free food or drink.

Venue Code of Conduct

  • You are in control of your character and their actions! Please understand IC actions do have IC consequences & you are responsible for your own fun.

  • Finding yourself without someone to talk to? If no one is approaching you for RP, but you see someone you might like to interact with, you are always free to send them a whisper. Did you miss a post? Worried that someone might have missed yours? As with any venue or roleplay space chat can, and will, scroll. If you think someone may have missed your post, or you missed someone else's, please send them a whisper!

  • Keep RP to a PG-13 rating - We do not allow public ERP under any circumstances and ask that you respect the limits of other patrons should they request that you tone down graphic descriptions of violence, vulgarity, et cetera. When in doubt we will err on the side of the one offended, not the one offending.

  • Weapons are assumed to be checked upon entry - This rule is enforced unilaterally and you will not be allowed to draw or use a weapon in character at any time. Forgetting to toggle weapon view or accidentally pressing "Z" is an understandable error; one you are expected to fix when noted. Should you draw steel in a scene you will be disarmed and, depending on severity, removed from the venue. This is not up for debate.

  • Respect Your Fellow Players - The world of Eorzea is not perfect, nor are its people. IC racism and bigotry is a norm. We do not tolerate OOC bigotry or harassment of any kind, however, including but not limited to: homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny, stalking, threats of OOC harm. Incidents will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. If you feel a patron has violated this rule please notify staff immediately.
